Titles read: “CINETOPICALITIES IN BRIEF“.
Various locations of events.
In Czechoslovakia we see lines of young girls in shorts and t-shirts marching towards us. By a trick of the camera, they are all fitted with gas masks and start jogging on the spot. The schoolgirls then do a kind of traditional dance in pairs in the playground, still with the gas masks in place. It looks quite sinister, or funny, depending on your sense of humour.
In a village near Salzburg, Austria, we see an old tradition of men on horseback racing through the streets, followed by three young men on foot. A Nazi / Swastika banner can be seen hanging from one of the buildings. It is apparently to ward off a second visitation of the plague from years ago. The winner, one of the young runners, climbs to the top of a ladder and kisses a wooden statue as part of the tradition. He seems to be putting a lot into that kiss!
In Northern Mexico we see horrible shots of a plague of millions of grasshoppers crawling over fields.
