Irina Kulikova was born in Chelyabinsk, the capital and industrial mainport of South Ural. She received a scholarship from New Names, the United Nations program for talented youth. By the age of 12, she was a child star playing all across Russia, at festivals in Europe and she was noticed by some of the world’s leading guitarists, including the Grammy Award-winning David Russell and Sergio Assad. She has received over 30 awards for her artistry, including first prices at the most prestigious international competitions. She has recorded seven albums and founded a guitar program at the Russian School of Music Irvine in California.
