The Fascinating History of Kalimbas

This video explores the history of kalimbas and some of how they work. I found it really interesting to learn about the modern kalimba came to be and wanted to share this with others. I know this video isn’t perfect, but it’s at least an introduction to learning more about kalimbas. I learned the African song “Rova Ngoma Mtawasa“ from the book “33 Intermediate Songs For The 17-Note Kalimba in C“ (though my kalimba is tuned to B-flat) by Mark Holdaway. By the way my pronunciation of “Rova Ngoma Mtwasa“ was completely approximate.
