First, focus on finding the best threshold values for both the Slow and the Fast compressor. See when they start reacting to the incoming signal and try to balance them accordingly. Then, on the slow compressor, aim at keeping the transients intact while musically compressing the body of the track. The fast compressor should, on the other hand, be set to seek the stray peaks and tame them. Here, you want to gain as much RMS as possible.
