Yosakoi - Michi

Channel subscription: In January 2020, we were invited by the Fukushima prefecture to a “Samurai Spirit Tour“ in Aizuwakamatsu. Organized by the Samurai Spirit Tourism program and Kendo World (Alexander Bennett), this monitor tour aims at promoting the ancient samurai culture of the region. Today, we are presenting you the ‘Gojin’ troup for a private performance that took place in Aizu Higashiyama. This troup was founded 20 years ago and consists of 60 members of all generations. The Yosakoi is a Japanese traditional dance that emerged in the 1950’s in Kochi prefecture. Combining traditional Japanese dance movements and modern music, this style became very popular in recent years, especially to the younger generations.
