Sennen Cove, Cornwall. Title: “To America, which will increase rate of transmission from 280 to 2,5000 letters per minute, landed at Sennen Cove“. Arrival of transatlantic telegraph cable. L/S of a ship moored close to the coast. A long cable stretches from the ship to the shore, it is kept afloat by barrels tied to it an intervals. In the foreground, two men standing on the beach, untie the barrels. High angled L/S of the ship and the cable stretching to the beach. Various shots of a dozen or so shire horses and a crowd of men pulling the cable along the beach. Intertitle: “Everybody in the village lent a hand!“ High angled L/S of a crowd of men and boys trudging through the sand, pulling the cable.
