During a recent public appearance President Joe Biden confidently shouted to the crowd, “We beat Big Pharma!” Presumably, Biden was referring to the very modest provisions in the recent Inflation Reduction Act that will allow Medicare to negotiate prices of a limited number of drugs, but not for a number of years. Meanwhile, the industry Biden claims to have “beaten” is raking in hundreds of billions in profits.
