She is a historic ocean liner that was launched in 1969. The ship departs from New York destined for South Hampton, England. You are guided into the bridge, safety control room and broiler room. The innerworkings of the ship are revealed and the captain, officers and other staff members are introduced. Passengers recreate on deck and enjoy the extensive amenities provided. (Note: Queen Elizabeth 2 (QE2) is now retired. The British ocean liner was converted into a floating hotel and since 2018 has been docked in Dubai). The Queen Elizabeth 2 ocean liner floats in the harbor. New York skyline in the evening (00:20). Zoom out of passengers looking over the rails of the ship. The captain looks out with binoculars. The captain, Joseph Wolfington, over sees a meeting with his senior officers (6:13). Close up of an officer named Graham Ferguson. He shows them the radar, valve thrusters, the steering tiller, radio telephone and the telegraph (7:08). Zoom out from the ocean water to the side of the ship with life boats. Jack Humphrey, the chief mechanic, inspects pipes in the broiler room. He scans the 200 foot shaft that is connected to the propeller. Close up of inside a flash evaporator (11:37). The narrator stands in the machine control room. Close ups of the telegraph, turbine levers and gauges. The narrator adjusts dials on the giant computer. A Selectric typewriter types by itself controlled by the computer (12:57). Shot of grey industrial building on nearby land. A boat moves toward the ship in the port of Le Havre in France. Pan of the tug boats and harbor (14:28). A man throws rope overboard. The ship is turned around. Gang planks are put in place. Dressed up guests are greeted as they enter the captain’s reception. They drink champagne and chat (16:23). A man stocks shelves of canned goods and food. Meat is sorted on to hooks and, on a table (16:50). Shots inside the massive kitchen, the head chef inspects trays of food (17:11). Close ups of bowls of salad. Kebobs are seasoned. The crew ascends an escalator with trays of food ().
