This song was originally written to highlight the oppression the South African people were enduring under the unjust and brutal apartheid regime. I remember hearing this track as a child and the sincerity and the hurt personified within the words stuck with me. The deep and meaningful lyrics resonate strongly today, because they also reflect the pain and suffering we are all witnessing today in Palestine. These lyrics and the commendable bravery and justice of the South African people in calling out open war crimes (while the world stands by silently watching) compelled me to release this Nasheed cover version of this track.
