The History of the Dravidian Languages

They are now largely confined to South India, due to displacement by the Indo-Aryan languages. These languages are agglutinative, meaning complex words are formed from combinations of morphemes without changes in their orthography or phonetics. The typical sentence structure for the languages is subject-object-verb. This video presents the history and evolution of the Dravidian languages from 3000 BCE to the present. Disclaimer: all dates are approximations, and there are many hypotheses regarding the development and classification of these languages that are not represented in this video.
