Devi Suktam (Aham Rudrebhirvasubhischara) | देवी सूक्तम | Powerful Vedic Chants

#Dasara #VedicChants #Devi #Durga #Navratri #vaaksuktam Devi Suktam or Vaak Suktam is perhaps the oldest hymn pertaining to the Universal Mother Goddess. It is a hymn of eight verses from the Rig Veda. It is the 125th sukta in the 10th chapter of the Rig Veda. Generally, Devi Suktam is recited together with Durga Saptashati and during Durga Puja. Of the eight mantras in this hymn, seven are in the trishtup chandas and only the second mantra is in the jagati chandas. It is explained that this hymn was rendered by the rishika (Vaak) in a state of ecstasy, when she had identified herself as being one with the Goddess (Vaak), and hence spoke as the Goddess herself. The Rishika Vaak was the daughter of Rishi Ambhrina; and hence the complete name of this hymn is also called as Vagambhrini Sukta or Ambhrini Sukta. Let’s offer our reverential pranams to the Supreme Goddess Vaak!
