Unboxing of: Sturmgeschutz Stug III Ausf. E DML #6688 Smart Kit
You can get this kit here:
This is a mix of old tooling and new tooling sprues, including Stug Ausf. G, F/8, C and Panzer III Ausf. J, Panzer IV and others. The kit features both DS Tracks as well as Magic tracks. Photo-etch set is also included. The cardboard typical for Dragon, holding those /sometimes alongside other metal parts and metal rope/ is missing this time. However, the kit is Smart Kit from every stand point of view. We have 5 different camo schemes, two dark gray and three dunkelgelb ones. The dunkelgelb are single-, dual- and three-tone camos, rather rare for this type of armored vehicle. The three tone camouflage scheme is especially interesting, due to the fact that the spots are obviously hand painted, with paint streaks going down from them. The vehicle represents a StuG III Ausf. E located near Berlin in April 1945, a rather used-up vehicle, probably with significant wear.
The kit is at a decent price, and is only compatible with new tooling of Bronco, which is slightly inferior as general representation.
Broncoโs kits are very nice, but their plastic is soft-ish, while the plastic of Dragon is second to none.
The instruction sheet seems OK, but for quite some time now, DML instructions needs a change in design and improvement of accuracy. Due to the mix of many plastic sprues it usually creates a problems alongside the build. Meng and MiniArt are ages ahead when it comes down to instructions.
The price is great though, so in the end I can only highly recommend this kit. I love StuGs and Jagdpanzers, they started me up with armor modeling, so this is a gem for me. If you are a fan, this is a good thing to get. Besides, having Magic and DS tracks alltogether is something rarely seen.
The kit features interior, which is abundant, even not absolutely complete. The decals and the PE parts are also decent.
Thanx for watching and feel free to contact me about it!
