Martyn Joseph performs ‘Chapel Porth Beach’ to Vicky Murphy and her husband Marc, whose dramatic experience inspired the song. Martyn wrote this as part of 21st Century Folk, Radio 2’s series that sees five people have songs written about their lives. Pregnant with her first child, Vicky was trapped in a flooding cave at Chapel Porth beach in Cornwall. Hammered by waves that threatened to drag them out to sea, she and husband Marc believed they would not survive. Thanks to a mystery surfer and two RNLI lifeguards, they did.
