Dead Kennedys San Francisco 1984

This DEAD KENNEDYS’ Performance June marked the closing of San Francisco’s DMPO’s ON BRODWAY Avant Garde Theatre and Nightclub. Director Dirk Dirksen documents the performances of KLAUS FLOURIDE, Bass; D.H. Peligro, Drums; EAST BAY RAY, Guitar; JELLO BIAFRA, Vocals; the crowd’s energy, interaction and mood. The 58 minute concert was captured, in real time, using four color cameras and a stereo, hi-fi audio track San Francisco’s North Beach, site of the concert, has traditionally provided asylum for the cultural fringe. In the Fall of 1975 Dirk Dirksen introduced emering avant garde artist/performers to the proprietor of a quiet Filipiano piano bar and family supper club, the Mabuhay Gardens.
