The local meteorological observatory has maintained a warning of a volcanic eruption at level 3 on the scale, which has five levels. People are asked not to approach within a radius of 2 km from the crater of the volcano, and also to monitor ejections of volcanic rocks and pyroclastic flows. The volcano is dangerous, as it is located 9 km from the city of Kagoshima, which is home to 600,000 inhabitants. There were no reports of casualties or damage.
