Nasa and the Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC), with the help of engineers from Oceaneering Space Systems of Houston, have created the X1 Robotic Exoskeleton based on technology developed for Robonaut 2 and IHMC’s Mina exoskeleton.
X1 may one day be used by astronauts as an exercise device during missions to supply resistance against leg movement. Back here on Earth, the robotic exoskeleton could be used to aid paraplegics to walk for the first time...
