Boney M - Belfast • TopPop

Boney M was founded by German producer Frank Farian in 1975 and consisted of four originally Caribbean artists from England, Germany and the Netherlands: singers Marcia Barrett and Liz Mitchell, model Maizie Williams and Bobby Farrell. Boney M. is known for the mix of white and black music; the producer is white and the singers are black. In addition, many songs have a black (emancipatory) background. The group owes its name to the main character Napoleon ’Boney’ Bonaparte from the Australian detective series Boney (1971-1972) of which the founder Farian was a big fan. ’Singer Bobby Farrell died at the age of 61 from heart failure on December 30th, 2010’ Watch our great music videos ❯ More TopPop?
