Mayan - Graspop 2012

Camera: André Broens ( ) Graspop 2012 Metal Meeting in Dessel, België op 22, 23 en 24 juni 2012. Mark Jansen, songwriter/guitarist for Dutch symphonic metal band Epica, has always been an extreme metal fan and also has a fascination with the Mayan culture. In 2010 he finally found a release valve for both of these passions by founding MaYan with two former After Forever bandmates. When two of Mark’s Epica colleagues also joined the band, MaYaN turned into a Dutch super project. Their music is uncompromising but very technical at the same time so it will also appeal to fans of brutal prog metal. They’ve only just started performing live but that shouldn’t be a problem for this experienced bunch. Pundits agree they could be the next ’big thing’ so be sure to check them out!
