Worlds first shortwave transistor radio, the Magnavox AW-100 (US made circa early 1957)

This radio was the worlds first all transistor shortwave radio, or so Magnavox claimed in their advertisements at least. They beat Zenith’s Royal 1000 Trans-oceanic radio to market by a few months (it was released near the end of 1957. However, the Royal 1000 was superior to the AW-100 in a two important ways: it had more shortwave bands (7 total) and it had more up to date styling, not to mention the fact that Zenith had much better brand recognition.
