Turkey Election: Erdogan urges voters to turn out as Kilicdaroglu furies over ’a total blackout’

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan held his last election rally in Istanbul on Saturday. Erdogan also called supporters to ’complete the unfinished work’ of the first round where got 49.5% support, falling just short of the majority needed to avoid a runoff. Kemal Kilicdaroglu, the candidate of a six-party opposition alliance, has meanwhile complained of being under “a total blackout“. Kilicdaroglu received 44.9% support in the first round of vote. Turkey election 2023 took place amid a severe economic crisis and just three months after fatal earthquakes in SE Turkey killing more than 50,000 people.
