Russia-Ukraine: Moscow police monitor group asking for return of husbands, sons, and brothers

A growing movement of Russian women is demanding the return of their husbands, sons, and brothers from the military front, after they were mobilized after a decree by President Vladimir Putin in September 2022. “Our families didn’t count on this actually. Our men weren’t ready for this situation neither morally, nor physically. They are not military professionals, they are of civilian professions and we are saying it’s necessary to bring them home from the front,“ said Maria Andreeva, an activist and wife of a mobilized Russian soldier. The Moscow prosecutor’s office said Saturday’s rally had not been coordinated with the authorities, issuing a warning about calling and participating in unauthorized mass events. Around 20 journalists were detained by police, placed on a bus and taken to a police station, according to reports. They were released a few hours later without charge.
