Howdy ya’ll. Today we will be looking through the oldest known photographs of Buenos Aires, Argentina. I was blown away by the assortment of images I was able to find. We see evidence of a vast range of cultures all having direct influence over the architecture of Buenos Aires. We see clear photographs showing buildings buried by layers of mud, structures built before the population appears to have arrived, and the most revealing of all, we actually have renovation photographs from the 1800’s showing the deliberate relocation of entrances and digging out of multiple structures. Overall, this is one of the most interesting cities in the world, based off the photographic evidence alone. However, as we dive into the current narrative history, Buenos Aires becomes even more interesting.
