Spartans Of Today (1932)

Introductory intertitle reads: “The real Spartans of today are the ladies - especially the girls who cheerfully face a bitter wind for the sport of cross-country running.“ Panning shot of a group of young women in sports wear (shorts and T-shirts) standing in a row waiting for a race to start. L/S of the group on the starting line, they are in a field and several spectators wait for the race to begin. A man waves a flag and shouts “Go!“ and the girls set off. Various shots of the girls running through the countryside - it looks like a cold wintery day. We see them running beside a river. On the soundtrack we can hear them shouting and chatting as they run along. Intertitle reads: “Hard going or soft going, fences, hedges or streams... all are taken in their stride by these Spartan Ladies.“ M/Ss of some of the girls jumping over a fence then over a tree trunk.
