Black Panther / Shuri Theme

Ludwig Göransson won an Oscar for his work on ‘Black Panther’ (2018). That film was very rich thematically, and ‘Wakanda Forever’ (2022) certainly delivers on that front also. Göransson did not receive a nomination for Best Score for ‘Wakanda Forever’, but he did receive a nomination for Best Original Song, ‘Lift Me Up’. ‘Black Panther’ featured a theme for Shuri that was plucky, optimistic and seemed to be played on some form of steel drum. It is the theme that kind of resembles ‘All of the Lights’ by Kanye West. This original theme is perfect for Shuri’s character in that first film. She’s optimistic, playful and young. Shuri’s original theme returns 3 times in ‘Wakanda Forever’, to my knowledge. Firstly when she and Okoye watch Riri from a distance. Secondly when Shuri arm-wrestles M’Baku and lastly when Shuri and Namor stand on the ship and call off the battle.
