The Godfathers of Florida Death Metal

The Florida death metal scene emerged mainly in Tampa Bay area in mid-80s and became huge during the late 80s / early 90s. Some of the most important bands include Death, Deicide, Morbid Angel, Obituary, Atheist, Cynic and Nocturnus. Some bands which originated outside of Florida, such as Malevolent Creation and Cannibal Corpse, relocated to the state in order to participate in this burgeoning scene. Most of the albums were recorded in Morrisound Studios by the legendary producer Scott Burns.
