Paris Laboratory Explosion (1938)

Paris. Various shots of the destruction left in a Paris suburb after 3,000 hand grenades confiscated from a ’secret society’ exploded while soldiers and policemen were loading them onto a lorry outside a laboratory. The men were blown to pieces. People stand about looking at several wrecked lorry and car frames and pieces of the men’s clothing hanging from high tree branches. Commentator says Britain’s Under Secretary Geoffrey Lloyd was due to visit the laboratory at about the time of the explosion but, at the last minute, was unable to come.
