How to paint a cat’s eye in watercolour

When we’re painting a portrait, whether human or animal, it’s so important to get the eyes looking right. So in this video I show you how to paint the bright, shiny eye of a kitten in realistic watercolour. I painted the full kitten too, and shared the process for that in another video. This video is different to my usual mini class vids, as it’s a longer, step-by-step class which you can paint along with. I worked much larger than life for this painting to help capture all the detail and little shapes of colour. It’s capturing these intricate shapes which helps to create a shiny, 3D effect. Starting with an accurate outline drawing will really help you to achieve realism in this painting. To help you with this, I’ve shared a printable PDF which you can download for free from my website at: If you give this a go, or if you enjoy the video, please leave me a comment. I love to read them.
