Australia ‘in trouble’ as obesity becomes ‘more common’

Iverson health research institute Professor John Dixon says Australia is “in trouble” as obesity is becoming “more common” with statistics continuing to rise. “We need to rethink, reframe, how we approach people living with obesity. We need to think about the causes – there are numerous factors that lead to it, and of course we struggle to have any effective treatments available,” he told Sky News Australia. “There’s so many common problems, dieases and risks associated with obesity, that it’s a major driver of disease in Australia, heart disease, diabetes and cancers.”
