Ancient Egyptians worshiped cats and these animals were symbols of divinity. Throughout history cats were associated with witchcraft and mysticism. In Japan to this day cats are believed to turn into powerful spirits when they die.
Grown-up cats make around 100 different sounds and they use them exclusively to talk to humans. Cats recognize individual voices and they change the sounds they make depending on how they want to manipulate humans. Cat’s don’t meow to each other, in fact they stay away from other cats avoiding potential confrontation. They see us as big, hairless cats that need feeding and training.
Owning a cat is beneficial for human health as it can reduce the risk of a heart attack or stroke by a 30%.Cats and humans have a similar overall brain structure and cat’s brain is 90% similar to humans. We have nearly identical sections of the brain that control emotion. A cat’s cerebral cortex contains about 300 million neurons which allows them to think in the same pattern as humans do, partially due to the similarity of neurotransmitters.
Approximately 1/3 of cat owners think their pets are able to read their minds. What’s going on here?
