SPECTACULAR moment red hot lava flowed from Italy’s Mount Etna and lit up the sky on Friday night (December 1). The lava flow originated from a south-east crater of Europe’s tallest and most active volcano. Perched above the Sicilian town of Catania, Mount Etna frequently erupts, yet its outbursts seldom result in significant damage. Mount Etna is believed to have the longest documented history of eruptions among all volcanoes, with records dating back to as early as 425 B.C.
