Hartford Connecticut Hoods - Insurance Capital or Crime Capital?

Today we visit the capital city of America’s richest state... Hartford, Connecticut. Hartford is a small but impactful city, founded in 1635 it’s one of America’s oldest cities. It’s claim to fame asides being Connecticut’s capital city is that it’s nicknamed “The Insurance Capital of the World’ as so so many insurance companies have their headquarters located here. However, like most American cities, it has seen better days. Hartford present day is the 2nd most dangerous in the state and ranked as 45th most dangerous nationally. Residents have a 1 in 85 chance of becoming victim in a violent crime and a 1 in 18 chance of being victim to a crime in general. The city reached it’s population peak in the 1950’s. Around that same time the suburbs surrounding the city began to grow, and residents and businesses alike left for greener pastures nearby or in many cases beyond. Even the city’s sole professional hockey team, The Hartford Whalers packed up and left in 1997. Today the city has a population of about 121,000 down from it’s high in 1950 177,000.
