It started with a pretty simple premise. Take a common low performance engine, and using only stock parts, maximize every aspect of the engine and attempt to generate one HP per cubic inch. But this experiment of applying science and trickery to a stock engine quickly evolved into a situation where those stock parts were being replaced with better and even aftermarket substitutes thus rendering the original concept obsolete.
