Bottle Story Issue Title Pathe Pictorial Goes To Sea (1947)

No titles. Unidentified coastal area and London. A bottle floats in the sea. A bearded tramp on a beach picks it up and takes a note out of it. The note is from “a shipwrecked mariner“, asking the reader to take the enclosed pendant to his wife in London. Several shots of the tramp walking along the beach and then along the pavements of London. He walks across Waterloo Bridge and stops to reread the note (St Paul’s Cathedral seen in background). He carries on and asks a newspaper seller and policeman the way to 13 Sargasso Street, dodging traffic as he goes. When he finally arrives he searches the street for number 13, but all that is left of the house is a bombed-out shell. The tramp looks thoughtful, then crumples the note, drops it on the ground and walks off. Cataloguer’s note: what a sad story! FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
