An Alabama school has installed whiteboards that double up as storm and active shooter shelters. The system, which costs $120,000 and is designed to fit 60 children or 20 adults when deployed, can withstand a .308 calibre rifle. When in use, the doors lock from the inside and there are no handles on the outside, with locks controlled by a teacher or administrator. The president of National School Safety and Security Services, Kenneth Trump, said schools should focus more on prevention and planning for likely security threats than on quick fixes and products.
