GGLS — Marine Triple-Expansion Steam Engine In Operation

On 20MAY2012, the Liberty Ship SS JEREMIAH O’BRIEN set sail for a champaign toast to the Battleship IOWA (BB-61) as it began its journey to San Pedro to become a museum there. Due to high winds causing heavy seas, the departure of the IOWA was moved to 26MAY2012. During cruises of the O’BRIEN, guests are allowed in controlled numbers to enter the engine room during its operation. It is REALLY something to see. My father started his career as a wiper on marine recipricating steam engines.
