How a green energy boss flies 20,000 miles to see his sons every week

Greg Jackson, the founder and CEO of Octopus Energy, a ‘green’ company that provides renewable energy to millions of customers around the world, has revealed the lengths he goes to in order to spend time with his two sons. In an interview with Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, Jackson said he would travel across continents and fly for more than 20,000 miles just to pick up his sons from school on a Wednesday night. Jackson, 52, who is no longer with the mother of Lucas, 15, and Zach, 6, said he has the boys twice a week and on alternative weekends. He said travel was much harder now than it was before, when he was just working hard. “Because of the importance of particularly the Wednesday night with the boys I have done things like flying to Japan on a Sunday night. I get to Tokyo Monday morning meetings there, meetings in Yokohama Monday afternoon, dinner in Tokyo Monday evening. Then plane overnight to Sydney, meetings in Sydney on Tuesday morning, then to Melbourne, meetings in Melbourne on Tuesday eve
