Elvis’ first recording “My Happiness / That’s When the Heartaches Begin“ July 18, 1953

July 18, 1953, an 18-year old yet-unknown Elvis Presley entered the recording studios of Sun Records with $4 and cut his first record, reportedly a gift for his mother. In January 2015, Jack White purchased the original acetate and re-released it for Record Store Day in its unmolested / unrestored format on 78rpm vinyl. Played on my 1948 Capehart.
