Evan Chapman - WCO6E (Excerpt)

Evan Chapman’s WC06E (Weaves Complete On 6 Ends) is based on 6-thread, textile weaving patterns. This work features solo percussion (guitar, vibraphone, bass drum) with live and pre-recorded electronics. The score uses graphic notations of textile weaving patters (such as twill or herringbone) which are realized by plucking/strumming the 6 strings of the acoustic guitar. In addition to acoustic sounds from guitar and bowed vibraphone, live electronics are played through tactile audio transducers which are moved from instrument to instrument which then sympathetically vibrate resulting in an introverted/ambient/meditative sound world, inspired by Alex Somers and Jónsi/Sigur Rós. This recording is from the world premiere performance on October 24, 2020 at Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, Cedar Falls, IA.
