The water turned dark blue, almost purple. When the old man looked into the water, he saw the reddish iridescence of plankton in the dark depths and the bizarre reflection of the sun’s rays. He watched whether his lines went straight into the water, and was glad that there was so much plankton around, because it promised fish.
