3 Basic Hand Stitches for Dollmaking | Beautiful and Strong Seams on Your Dolls

A little video explaining the hand stitches most widely used when sewing natural fiber art dolls or other cloth dolls: Back Stitch (and its twin Invisible Back Stitch), Ladder Stitch and Whip/Slip Stitch. In this video I am using knit doll skin fabric, as used in waldorf dollmaking but the stitches apply to other types of sewing and crafts. You can use it for closing openings, attaching the doll neck to the torso, finishing seams, etc. 3:00 Whip Stitch, when made in tiny stitches very useful for awkward areas where you can’t use ladder stitch. 5:16 Invisible Back Stitch, a superior and more complicated stitch to strongly join the doll head to the torso, leaving no visible stitches and creating an extremely flat seam. 9:13 Slip Stich, very similar to Whip Stitch, but less visible. #natura
