A group of wild monkeys attacked a supermarket in Thailand
About ten primates carried out an organized raid on a Phiphi Island grocery shop. According to eyewitnesses, they took turns opening fruit crates, obeying the leader’s orders and taking the loot. A separate group attacked tourists and stole food from their hands.
The government believes the quarantine during the coronavirus pandemic, which allowed the apes to roam freely in Thai cities, was to blame. Somewhere the primates became so confident that they stopped paying attention to humans and even put up a beating between rival groups. For example, in 2021, hundreds of monkeys fought for the right to sit at the foot of a Buddhist temple in Bangkok.
