Sadiq Khan was accused of betraying London taxpayers after figures revealed City Hall employs 1,100 people on a salary of £100,000 or above. City Hall and its subsidiaries, including Transport for London (TfL) and the Metropolitan Police, are funded through the mayoral precept, which has risen from an average of £276 in 2016-17 to £471 next year. Meanwhile the number of six-figure earners is up from 655 in 2018-19 to 1,146 last year, with 772 of them working for TfL alone. The transport body also had 18 employees on over £250,000.
