I made my own long powerstroke infantry crossbow based on the designs from Han Dynasty China (202 BC-220 AD). Instead of making a perfect replica, my intention is to revive these forgotten weapons on YouTube and hopefully motivate others to make their own. This is possibly the oldest crossbow design.
The triggers are made of brass instead of bronze, and the stock is made of 4x4 spruce. I decided to start with a 50$ Hungarian fiberglass bow that is only 60lb@32“, because it is the lightest bow I have that can be pulled to 32“. We will use heavier bows in the future. I am also interested to conduct an analysis of Roman and Greek crossbows of the similar time period.
