Recovery of M36 of the 702nd Tank Destroyer Bn. in Fisenne, Belgium; January 5, 1945

This M36 tank destroyer of the 702nd Tank Destroyer Battalion slid off of an icy road in Fisenne, Érezée, Belgium in early January 1945. Ordnance men arrived with the M25 tank transporter (“Dragon Wagon“) to flip the vehicle right-side up, and then tow it for repairs. As can be seen in the footage, at least one soldier - likely the TD driver according the shot card - did not survive the accident. The 702nd Tank Destroyer Battalion was primarily attached to the 2nd Armored Division during this stage of the “Battle of the Bulge.“ #tankdestroyer #ww2 #wrecker #battleofthebulge ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GI Stories on Instagram: GI Stories on Facebook: Support GI Stories:
