USS Liberty Attacked by Israel, 2001 News Report

I learned about the . Liberty incident when I read the book, Body of Secrets by James Banford. (Banford is interviewed in the story.) I asked many knowledgable people if they’d heard about the Israeli attack on the Liberty on June 8, 1967. No one knew about the attack that killed 34 Americans. So that made the story even more interesting. That led to this 2001 news report which I researched. I set up interviews in New York, Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles. I interviewed the family of Carl C. Nygren, who was killed during the attack, and Richard Sturman, a survivor. We also interviewed survivors Donald Pageler and Rick Aimetti, Yosi Livne, the Israeli Deputy Consul General in New York and Sen. Charles Schumer.
