Dutch police attack pro-Palestine protesters in The Hague with batons

Dutch police were seen attacking pro-Palestine protesters in The Hague with batons on Thursday, as the demonstrators attempted to break through a police line barring them from reaching and occupying the Ministry of Education building. Several protesters were injured as a result of the police intervention, although no arrests were reported. The protesters had reportedly staged the protest action, with the goal of occupying the ministry building, in response to the harsh arrest and removal of pro-Palestine activists who had occupied the Universities of the Netherlands building in The Hague earlier this week. Pro-Palestine protests at Dutch universities have spread in recent weeks but have often been met with harsh police response. Some Dutch universities have reportedly begun investigations and evaluations of their ties with Israeli institutions as a result of the pressure from the protests.
