Ronald Frankau (1938)

Flash frame titles read: “RONALD FRANKAU OF RADIO, RECORD AND WEST END FAME“. London, probably Pathe Studio. The act starts with Ronald Frankau and his pianist (Monte / Monty Crick?) sitting opposite each other in armchairs; Frankau says “...so he hypnotised the bear...“, then turns and realises we are there, so they both get up and go to the piano. Frankau recites a monologue to music about Shakespeare and his plays, saying Shakespeare was a playboy with a ’naughty mind’. He sings some of the monologue, then goes into a funny bit of patter about the plot of ’Romeo and Juliet’ - full of puns and wordplay. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
