Seal patrol from our kayaks have worked very well lately, today is no difference. It is a very successful rescue run with three saved seals in one go. Most of them are quick and easy rescues, but the little pup with a treble hook in his mouth needed the help of all three dedicated and experienced OCN rescuers to be freed. We do not see treble hooks often. They have three points instead of only one, and each of them is painfully embedded in the seal’s lip. The seal is a very good patient and allows the rescuers to do their work in spite of the pain the rescue must have caused him. Hook entanglements are terrible and painful, but the animals recover very quickly once the foreign object is removed.
