A rare and fascinating profile of Bill Haast, then 88 years old, I shot in 1999. Haast, founder of Miami Serpentarium was bitten by venomous snakes over 170 times- more often than any other known living human. Haast regularly injected himself with venom to build resistance to snake bites. Haast closed the Serpentarium in 1984, and in 1990 opened Miami Serpentarium Laboratories where he extracted snake venom for medical and research use. Haast died June 15, 2011 at
