Tony Anderson - The King

Until my new music is ready for release later this year, I want to share some of my previous work on Mondays and Fridays. Today’s selection is “The King.“ I wrote The King (2016) as part of a score for a film called “The Heart of Man.“ I had about 8 weeks to write 75 minutes of music for the film - it was one of the tightest deadlines I’ve ever worked because we had already booked a recording date with the orchestra in Bratislava, Slovakia before I started writing. “The King“ was composed for a scene towards the end of the film, and since I had written the score chronologically from the first scene to the last, the music in The King ended up being the culmination of all of the themes and melodies of the entire film up until the point it played. It’s simple and distilled. I remember when I heard the 40 piece string section play it in person in the summer of 2016 - it was a taste of heaven. The photo (from Chris Anderson) is of the conductor, Johannes Vogel during the scoring session.
